A24 fans, rejoice: Screen Rant reports that HBO Max will be adding a huge assortment of titles from the production company to its platform starting next month, just in time for A24’s tenth anniversary. The 28 new additions, which range from critically-acclaimed (such as Oscar-winners Room and Ex-Machina) to cult classic (Kevin Smith’s 2014 black comedy Tusk), will join A24’s already lengthy roster on HBO Max. Currently, the streaming service is the exclusive home to Emmy-winning teen drama Euphoria starring Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney; other A24 titles already available include 2 Dope Queens, Irma Vep, and Pod Save America....

It seems like there’s an unspoken rule throughout the Harry Potter series: each school year, you get a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and it always means more trouble (for both the students and the professor themselves). From Professor Quirell (Ian Hart) carrying Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) on his head to Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton) torturing the students, it hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride for the individuals in this teaching position throughout all the Harry Potter movies....

Being an Entertainment/Society Reporter we have covered every type of event - from back yard bar-b-ques (on the Westside, of course) to elegant evenings at the Opera. However, we attended the “Mother of all Parties” when Bernardo Puccio and Orin Kennedy invited us to the Red Carpet Premiere of their Personal Documentary and Dedication of their Monument at Hollywood Forever. Many of their Westside clients and socialites were on hand sipping champagne and hors d’ oeuvres including Joyce and Stanley Black, Marvin and Madeline Gussman and beautiful blonde Ila Waldman with her new beau, Len Krane, from Bel Air....

There’s plenty of casting news going around town today. According to Variety, Ulrich Thomsen will headline the Columbia Pictures film The International. He’ll be playing an investment banker who gets mixed up with arms dealers. Clive Owen and Naomi Watts co-star in this Tom Tykwer directed thriller. Shooting is set to begin soon in Berlin and Turkey. In other news, Luke Grimes is the latest cast addition to Mischa Barton’s The Sophomore....

The fifth season of the popular NBC reality series America’s Got Talent debuts with a two-hour season premiere on Tuesday, June 1 at 8 PM ET, followed by a Wednesday, June 2 episode at 9 PM ET. Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment and Mike Richardson’s Dark Horse Entertainment and Dark Horse Comics are partnering on a slate of independent films, according to Variety. The alliance will launch with The Blackburne Covenant, based on the Dark Horse graphic novel by Fabian Nicieza and illustrated by Stefano Raffaele. The story deals with the publication of a bestselling novel in which the author’s fictional plot turns out to have a supernatural basis in reality....

Susan Sarandon has joined the Columbia Pictures comedy I Hate You Dad alongside Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg. The story centers around a father (Adam Sandler) who makes life extremely difficult for his son (Andy Samberg) when he moves in just before the son’s wedding. Leighton Meester will portray Andy Samberg’s fiancee. Ian Ziering has been cast as a drugged-out version of himself, while Vanilla Ice will also be playing an altered take on his own persona....

In Plain Sight, USA Network’s newest original scripted series, will return for a second season with series star Mary McCormack (The West Wing, Private Parts) returning. The series, created/ written/ executive produced by David Maples (Home Improvement, Huff) and executive produced by Paul Stupin (Dawson’s Creek, Beautiful People), has been given a 16-episode order and will start production in October. In Plain Sight will once again be shot entirely on location in and around Albuquerque, NM....

As the world inches closer to March 4th and the release of The Batman, the press tour is starting to swing into full motion. The trailer promises some great action as well as fantastic story details. Director Matt Reeves has even teased how scary the movie will be compared to other iterations of the Caped Crusader. Early looks of Robert Pattinson and his dark demeanor have revved up anticipation for the film in addition to a villain that has rarely been explored on the big screen: The Riddler....

Sun Media recently spoke with Chris Hauty about his The Last Pharaoh, which Will Smith’s production company, Overbrook Entertaiment, has picked up. Taharqa, the last Pharaoh of the 25th or Nubian Dynasty (the one in which blacks of Ethiopian descent ran Egypt). Carl Franklin (Devil In A Blue Dress) has already banged out a script called The Last Pharaoh, full of Ethiopians battling Assyrians for the throne of Amun-Ra. Now it’s being polished by Chris Hauty (Never Back Down), so look for some mixed martial arts to excite the masses....

While James Cameron’s current box office behemoth Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) continues to steamroll all the competition, another one of his epic films will yank that spotlight pretty soon. One of the most memorable tragic love stories to ever grace the big screen, Titanic (1997), is set to come back to theaters for a limited time starting Feb. 10 to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary. While it may seem rather obvious why Cameron chose the weekend before Valentine’s Day for its re-release, in an interview with Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show, the director says there’s more to it than love....

Jamie Lee Curtis penned an emotional tribute to her late mother, actress Janet Leigh. Leigh, the actress, immortalized through the iconic shower scene in Psycho, graces the cover of Variety’s 100 Greatest Movies of All Time issue. In addition, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, which starred Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates, is recognized by the publication as the number one movie of all time. With her WWE days behind her, pro wrestler Jessica McKay has switched gears with a new foray into acting. While she parted ways with the company last year, McKay is best known to wrestling fans for performing for WWE as Billie Kay, one half of the tag team known as The IIconics alongside Peyton Royce (Cassie Lee). Both were released together in 2021 after six years with WWE, and just recently, they announced their pro wrestling retirement after a stint in Impact Wrestling....

Sad news has come in as Joe Turkel has passed away. The character actor, whose work includes Paths of Glory, The Shining, and Blade Runner, died peacefully at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California, with sons Craig and Robert by his side. Turkel passed away on Monday, June 27, though his death has just been announced to the public. He was 94 years old. “Friends and neighbors knew Joe as fun and easy to get along with,” a statement from the family reads....

24 creator Joel Surnow’s romantic comedy screenplay That Face has been picked up by Morgan Creek Prods. and domestic distributor Universal Pictures. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s protagonist is a small-town guy who lands a mailroom job at a New York cosmetics firm, only to be fired on his first day after telling the owners his honest opinion about their spokesmodel. His chance at redemption comes after snapping a camera phone shot of a beautiful girl on the subway and offering her as a replacement, but the foul-mouthed outer-borough beauty needs a lot more than makeup to become a palatable new face for the company....

It’s a sad Christmas season. Jules Bass, co-founder of Rankin/Bass productions, has passed away at 87. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bass passed away on Tuesday at an assisted living facility in Rye, New York. Born in Philadelphia in 1935, Bass was the co-founder of Videocraft International with his partner Arthur Rankin Jr., that very company would soon be re-named Rankin/Bass Productions. In 2005, Rankin would say this about their partnership....

Lizzy Caplan of Mean Girls and Master of Sex is currently - no pun intended - killing it in the second season of Hulu and J.J. Abrams’ Stephen King anthology series Castle Rock. In this new season, Caplan plays King’s notorious nurse from Hell, Annie Wilkes, a role made famous by actress Kathy Bates (American Horror Story, About Schmidt) in director Rob Reiner’s adaptation of King’s novel Misery. And the other day, Kathy Bates took to Twitter to sing young Lizzy Caplan’s praise....
