Production companies are seemingly hesitant to release any entertainment product without a recognizable (read: internationally profitable) cast of characters. This is not always an issue. Film franchises allow filmgoers to fall in love with their favorite characters, and modern audiences are seldom left feeling unsatisfied with an unfinished storyline. Alternatively, the current obsession with cinematic universifying just about every film that hits the silver screen has led to new and exciting pictures....

Hugh Jackman has been quietly casting roles for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a spin-off from the X-Men franchise, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. According to the Herald: In recent weeks Jackman has been spotted approaching would-be stars and offering them the chance to audition for roles in the flick, which is said to be a prequel that delves deep into the early years of Jackman’s hirsute Wolverine character who, by all accounts, is the sexiest mutant on the big screen....

You can bring home one of the biggest blockbuster sequels of the year home in three new DVD and Blu-ray editions this fall. Iron Man 2 will be released on single-disc DVD, two-disc Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray on September 28. The author of a 90s cult classic will be directing a classic Western remake. According to Screen Daily, Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh will direct a modern remake of the 1960 Western classic The Magnificent Seven, which will be titled The Magnificent Eleven. Before The Batman became Matt Reeves’ origin story project for DC’s cape crusader, the film, titled the same, was going to be a continuation to Justice League (2017) within the DC Extended Universe. The film would have featured Ben Affleck reprising his role in the film, while also being attached to it as the director. And Slade Wilson/Deathstroke would have featured as his nemesis. Snyder brought in Joe Manganiello to portray the character and Affleck, who was attached to The Batman as the director, had shot test footage with the actor, donning his iconic costume with the signature mask....

Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann, the original kid stars of Disney’s 1970s “Witch Mountain” movies, are returning with Race to Witch Mountain, the studio’s re-imagining of the adventure tales starring Dwayne The Rock Johnson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Everett Scott, Chris Marquette, Billy Brown and Cheech Marin also are joining the production, which is filming under director Andy Fickman.
