Weeks after he was admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 complications, legendary television personality Larry King has died. The news was announced on King’s official Twitter account with a statement from Ora Media, the company behind his shows Larry King Now and Politicking with Larry King, revealing that King died on Saturday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 87 years old. “For 63 years and across the platforms of radio, television and digital media, Larry’s many thousands of interviews, awards, and global acclaim stand as a testament to his unique and lasting talent as a broadcaster,” the statement reads....

The ninth season of American Idol came to a sensational conclusion tonight as Lee DeWyze was crowned the winner during the live two-hour season finale on Fox. DeWyze, 24, from Mt. Prospect, IL, emerged as America’s choice in a competition that began with more than 100,000 hopefuls who auditioned in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles and Orlando. DeWyze capped his coronation on Wednesday’s finale by singing “Beautiful Day,” which is available for download exclusively on AmericanIdol....

A vial of blood from Saw star Tobin Bell – who plays the villain Jigsaw – was mixed with red ink and printed on a poster for the next installment in the horror franchise, according to Variety. Lionsgate also will hold blood drives in conjunction with the Oct. 27 opening of Saw III, as it has for previous openings in the series. The idea was hatched by Lionsgate marketing honcho Tim Palen....

We were originally just going to see the ginormous “Iron Monger” suit, which Jeff Bridges steps into, but we were informed while talking with Stan Winston protoges key artist Chris Swift and model shop superviser Dave Merritt, who both supervised the suits’ construction, that the Iron Man Mark II suit had just come back into the studios today....

Airing December 10 over 8 consecutive nights on Showtime (9-10pm ET/PT) is Sleeper Cell: American Terror. Picking up where Sleeper Cell the show left off, we follow undercover FBI agent Darwyn (Michael Ealy) as he infiltrates another cell in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the captured Faris Al-Farik (Oded Fehr) endures a great deal of torture as the CIA tries to pry information from him. Eventually, he is sent back to Saudi Arabia where he manages to break free, and further concentrate his efforts on bringing down America....

The Good This is one of those shows that always seems to work. The Bad With all the extras a commentary track would have been nice. Grounded for Life: Season 2 continues the exploits of the Finnerty Family as we see the kids, the parents and everyone else do their best to grow up and get by. Featuring many laugh soaked episodes, I think we are getting Donal Logue and the rest of the cast doing some of their best work....

FX is closing in on a pilot deal for an adaptation of Guillermo del Toro’s vampire novel trilogy The Strain. The network is in final talks for a pilot order, with the understanding that it would most likely be fast-tracked to series. Carlton Cuse (Lost) has signed on to executive produce and serve as showrunner if the series is picked up. Guillermo del Toro will co-write the pilot script with Chuck Hogan, who co-authored the novel trilogy which debuted in 2009....

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, the Weinstein Co. and Genius products saw Hannibal Rising rise to the top of Nielsen VideoScan’s First Alert top 20 as it took the No. 1 spot in sales. Apocalypto was No. 1 on Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the second straight week. Surprisingly, the only other new release to crack the sales chart was Warner Bros....

Warner Bros. has announced they will pull all of their Harry Potter Blu-rays and DVDs off the shelves starting December 29. Take a look at the studio’s official statement below. “Mama June” Shannon of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo fame has been arrested on drug charges in Alabama, following a domestic dispute with boyfriend Geno Doak. A spokesman for the District Attorney’s Office of Macon County, Alabama confirmed Shannon was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia charges. Doak was also arrested for suspicion of domestic abuse charges, felony possession of a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia....

Production begins this week in Vancouver on season four of Eureka, one of Syfy’s most popular original series, it was announced by Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Development, Syfy, and Co-Head Original Content, Universal Cable Productions. The dramedy’s new season welcomes an all-new regular cast member, James Callis (Battlestar Galactica) as “Dr. Grant.” Syfy has ordered 20 episodes of Eureka, which will once again be shot entirely on location in and around Vancouver, Canada, and is slated to premiere on Friday, July 9th of this year....

In honor of the 28th anniversary of the James Cameron action movie True Lies, star Jamie Lee Curtis shared the story of shooting one of the most memorable scenes of her career for the film. Jane Curtin has joined ABC’s comedy pilot Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office.
