The actress will play Peyton Loftis, a young woman at the center of a dysfunctional family in 1950s Virginia. Peyton’s beauty has caused her mother to become jealous and hateful towards her, while the woman’s alcoholic father lusts after her. She also has a crippled sister named Maudie....

George Tillman Jr., best known for directing Soul Food, has come aboard to helm the Notorious B.I.G. biopic being made by Fox Searchlight. According to Variety, Sean “Diddy Combs” will be an executive producer on the film. Fox Searchlight, which has owned the rights to B.I.G.’s story since 1995, put out an open casting call for the role of the rapper last week. Anyone who bared even a slight resemblance to the man has been encouraged to send in a tape whether they are an actor or not....

New details have been reported about the sudden exit of Miguel Sapochnik from House of the Dragon. A blend of horror and science fiction, Infinity Pool is director Brandon Cronenberg’s third feature-length film. An unrated cut debuted at Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, this year and was one of the most disturbing and unsettling films shown. Shot in Croatia and Hungary, Cronenberg said the film was inspired by memories of a vacation he took a long time ago. In an interview posted on Jan. 31, Cronenberg was quoted as explaining to The Daily Beast’s Obsessed that Infinity Pool was inspired by memories of a resort vacation he took over 20 years ago....

According to a casting notice released to CHUD, James Wong (Final Destination) will write and direct a live-action adaptation of Dragon Ball Z for 20th Century Fox. We have our first look at Laurie Strode’s return in Halloween Ends. Ever since 1978, Jamie Lee Curtis has been going to battle in character as Laurie with her longtime nemesis, Michael Myers. Things have turned out a bit differently throughout all of the different timelines, but their upcoming confrontation in Halloween Ends is special in that this will most likely be the final time we see Curtis in the role, as there are no plans to continue the story after the upcoming film (hence the title)....
DreamWorks has attached Jeff Nathanson to write the screen adaptation of the first novel of The 39 Clues, a multiplatform adventure series launching Tuesday from Scholastic Media, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The studio acquired the film rights to the property in June, and Nathanson will crack the first novel in the series, The Maze of Bones, written by former middle school teacher Rick Riordan. Nathanson’s involvement with the project lends extra weight to the possibility of DreamWorks principal Steven Spielberg jumping into the director’s chair....
