Fans of the hit animated show Harley Quinn may have noticed that the Lex Luthor of the series is shown to be a person of color. The character is voiced by Giancarlo Esposito, best known to fans as the ever-polite but extremely menacing Gus Fring from Breaking Bad, and Moff Gideon on The Mandalorian. In an interview, Esposito spoke about how much voicing Luthor meant to him. Harley Quinn showrunners Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker also weighed in on the casting, revealing that while they knew they wanted Esposito to play the role of Lex Luthor, they were rather skeptical that the celebrated actor would be interested in voicing a character for a cartoon show....

Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and actor Austin Butler are getting some big praise from another big name in the industry. For a new article at Variety, some of today’s most notable directors share the movies they consider to be the best films of 2022. For Guillermo del Toro, Elvis is high atop the list due to the extraordinary work put in by both Luhrmann and Butler. “It was like a concert — it was experiential, peppered with details and perfectly observed mannerisms and hidden clues,” says del Toro....

Rumors of Harrison Ford joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a recast of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross has taken a step up with new reports suggesting the deal has been done, and Ford will allegedly make his debut in Captain America: New World Order. This comes on the heels of reports of Ford being tapped to take over the William Hurt role in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, and seems to be as close to a confirmation as you can get until Marvel makes it official....

HBO Max has been rebooting and continuing some iconic franchises: Gossip Girl, Sex and the City, Pretty Little Liars, and even Gremlins. Next on the list is Degrassi, the classic Canadian teen drama. Starting as The Kids of Degrassi Street, the franchise has spanned four decades and five series so far, with a sixth on the way. Those who watched Degrassi may have fond memories of school bands, The Dot, and dances gone awry, all of which we hope to see in the new show....

Even though HD TV’s have been around for some time, that doesn’t mean that newbies know how to use them. In a story from Variety, HD TV’s did quite well this holiday season, but it appears consumers might have a heard time getting them to look like how they looked in the store they purchased them from. “People know what ‘digital’ means, but they’re being asked to remember all these obscure terms,” states Matt Swanston, director of business analysis at the Consumer Electronics Assn....

The hit Netflix series Stranger Things has started a new tradition of #StrangerThursdays, which kicked off last week with two new Stranger Things Season 2 posters that pay homage to two classic films from the 1980s, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Stand By Me. That tradition continued with a new poster that honors a 1980s classic that celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year, the 1987 sci-fi action film The Running Man....

House of the Dragon, like Game of Thrones, is a notoriously difficult series to produce. There are countless hours with makeup, wigs, and shooting in harsh locations. Line rehearsals are just one of the things required on set for the series, as the show is known for heavy dialogue consisting of both political discussions and everyday conversation between characters. Milly Alcock, who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen, is forced to learn the same script in multiple languages, making her daily tasks much more difficult....

Another new tribute for late comedy legend Bob Saget was featured in the first episode of How I Met Your Father. Previously, Saget played the adult Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) on How I Met Your Mother by serving as the show’s narrator, speaking as Josh many years in the future. Saget narrated the sitcom from 2005-17. A Hulu original, How I Met Your Father, takes a similar premise with the spinoff....

IFC Entertainment and the Weinstein Co. have bought the rights to the artist documentary, Matthew Barney: No Restraint. The film features Bjork and about 40,000 pounds of petroleum jelly, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Producer-director Alison Chernick’s feature follows Barney and wife Bjork to Japan, chronicling their collaboration on the 2005 art film Drawing Restraint 9. During the six-month project, shot on a whaling vessel near Nagasaki, Barney attempts to create a “narrative sculpture” conveying the story of two land mammals who turn into whales....

In the six-episode event, Ms. Marvel brilliantly introduced us to Kamala Khan. It marked her highly acclaimed entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show is the best-rated MCU show ever and even surpassed Black Panther in terms of critical reception. Kamala Khan’s story will now move further via The Marvels, a direct sequel to the series, as well as a tie-in film to Captain Marvel, WandaVision, and possibly Secret Invasion....

Just days after presenting at Tuesday’s Golden Globes ceremony, Everything Everywhere All at Once star Jamie Lee Curtis shared that she tested positive for COVID-19. Curtis took to social media to announce the results, posting a picture of three positive rapid antigen tests and sharing that she would be sitting out of some other upcoming award season events. “F–k COVID! Sadly, this head cheerleader is not going to be at all the weekend festivities cheering on her friends and colleagues....

Jared Padalecki says the final episode of Supernatural is his favorite of all time. It’s almost the end of the road for the Winchester Brothers. The stars and showrunners of the long-running series took part in PaleyFest New York earlier this week to discuss the final season and their feeling about it all coming to an end. The public health crisis slammed the production to a halt back in March, so the cast and crew had to wait several months before getting back together again to finish the final two episodes, which seem to have made a lasting impression on everybody involved....

He was raised by Spanish parents, grew up in Casablanca, Moroco, where he learned the languages of Spanish, Arabic, and French. By the age of seventeen, Reno and his family moved to North Africa for work and to escape the Francoist dictatorship in Spain. There were two Wednesdays on the set of Wednesday, but neither one ever brought up that fact to the other. Recently, Netflix debuted Wednesday, an Addams Family reboot that reimagines the titular member of the creepy and kooky family with Jenna Ortega in the role. During production, Thora Birch unexpectedly dropped out, opening the door for Christina Ricci to be brought in to replace her. This was significant as Ricci, a former child star, famously played a younger Wednesday in two of the live-action movies from the 1990s....

David Gordon Green’s Halloween Ends was not exactly welcomed by franchise fans with open arms when it was released in theaters and on Peacock earlier this month. While there was great anticipation heading into the sequel, which brings an end to the 44-year feud between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, Halloween Ends was met with backlash from horror fans unhappy with some of the creative directions taken in the movie. It’s labeled as rotten with both critics and audiences at Rotten Tomatoes and some fans have gone so far as to sign a petition calling for Blumhouse and Universal Pictures to reshoot the film from scratch....
