With the Oscar season heating up, talk has turned to who will host this year’s 81st Annual Academy Awards, and the Academy seems set on a host that may surprise you. According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have made an offer to actor Hugh Jackman to host this year’s awards… but that doesn’t mean he’s hosting for sure. Is the world really ready for a PG-13 Punisher movie? Well, it seems that Lionsgate thinks so, and is pursuing a PG-13 rating for Punisher: War Zone, according to a report from Latino Review Lionsgate has already clearly had differences of opinion with director Lexi Alexander, who has reportedly been fired from the film, whose own website no longer even mentions the film. Has bad weather has caused the production of Watchmen to be delayed? WatchmenComicMovie reports that due to heavy snowfall in Vancouver has caused delays for many of the exterior sets. Additionally, it seems that some of the scenes are cyber-scanning in extras for some shots that couldn’t be completed due to the snowfall. Speculation exists that the extra days were added in anticipation of the end to the WGA strike, which would allow the film to re-write some scenes and then re-shoot those new scenes....

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, the cast of Jersey Shore is closing a deal for a large pay increase. The group’s contract negotiations have halted production on season “2.5” of the series. The show is set to start shooting this week. The cast originally asked the network for $30,000 per episode. That would amount to a 200% raise. MTV has countered with a number that’s close to that. It looks like some members are expected to accept the new offer by the end of the day....

It’s official, Academy Award winner Kenneth Branagh will return as probably the greatest detective in the world Hercule Poirot in a third outing following this year’s Death on the Nile. Revealed courtesy of Deadline, Poirot will once again ply his trade for detection in A Haunting in Venice, which will be based on Agatha Christie’s 1969 novel titled Hallowe’en Party. Branagh debuted as the gloriously mustachioed Poirot in 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express before reprising the role in Death on the Nile back in February....
