James Marsters has played a villain in numerous science-fiction television series (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, Torchwood) and is now taking that love of villainy into film, where he will be playing the evil Lord Piccolo in Dragonball. Talking to TV Guide, Marsters gave a run-down of the villains he is scheduled to play, beginning with Braniac on the CW’s Smallville. Asked about what Braniac was currently up to, Marsters answered “He’s gone from trying to rule the world to trying to survive, hanging out with tramps, warming his hands over open fires....

Iconic actress Jane Russell died Monday in her Santa Maria home due to respiratory problems. She was 89 at the time of her passing. The new sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife is filled to the brim with Easter eggs and references to the originals from director Ivan Reitman, who, as it turns out, has also secretly been hidden in the movie. After helming the original Ghostbusters movies, Ivan served as a producer on Afterlife with son Jason Reitman taking the reins as director. And the younger Reitman was intent on getting his father into the movie in one way or another as a way of honoring the original director....

John Cusack and Evan Peters have boarded the Treehouse Pictures and Anonymous Content comedy, Adult World. The project is directed by Scott Coffey from a script by Andrew Cochran. The movie follows a recent college graduate who believes she’s destined to be a great poet, instead winds up working for an adult book store. Emma Roberts is playing 21-year old Amy Anderson, a recent college graduate with a degree in poetry....

Based on its opening scene, you might be deceived as to what the 2003 Hungarian film Kontroll (or Control) is actually about. A man, ostensibly representing the Budapest Metro, faces the camera and warns us in a flat tone that what we are about to see is completely fictional. The whole thing feels like a state-sponsored news broadcast or something the Hungarian government demanded be played before the film, but it could just as easily be a creative choice on the part of the filmmaker – there is very little behind-the-scenes information on the film, so we are left to wonder as to where the real ends and the unreal begins....
