In December of last year, Colombia Pictures announced that Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller would direct a big screen adaptation of the beloved ’80s teen/cop drama 21 Jump Street starring Jonah Hill. He would also help develop the script and would executive produce. Today we had a moment to chat with the busy actor at an event for DreamWorks Animation, for whom the actor has two films coming out this year: How To Train Your Dragon and MegaMind....

Jonathan Majors is keeping busy in Hollywood. First, he will continue his prominent role in the MCU with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, making his debut as Kang the Conquerer in February. A month later, the actor stars in the upcoming Creed III alongside Michael B. Jordan, slated to arrive in March 2023. However, Majors will first take to the skies as Navy fighter pilot Jesse Brown in Devotion later this month....

I recently had the chance to speak with actor Josh Hartnett, who was promoting his upcoming action drama Bunraku, which arrives on VOD formats September 1 and hits theaters on September 30. We also discussed another intriguing project the actor just wrapped production on, director Roland Joffé’s Singularity. This new TV house gets that much closer to being full. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a quartet of new actors have signed on for Joss Whedon’s new Fox TV drama, Dollhouse. Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica), Fran Kanz (Welcome to the Captain), Australian Dichen Lachman and Enver Gjokaj have joined star Eliza Dushku. The series was set up for a seven-episode order shortly before the writers strike. The show revolves around a group of young men and women dubbed dolls who are programmed with different personalities and assignments and they have no recollection of their previous lives… until Echo (Dushku) starts to remember....

Director Colin Trevorrow has revealed that, despite the Jurassic World Dominion being marketed as the final installment in the Jurassic franchise, he did intentionally lay the foundations for “more to come.” Speaking with Empire, Trevorrow explains that he did not know that Jurassic World Dominion was being sold as ‘The epic conclusion of the Jurassic era’ until he saw the posters for the movie and that he instead added: “new characters that a new generation....

Sources across the internet have differed over whether or not Katee Sackhoff, who played Sarah Corvus on Bionic Woman, intends to return to the show, and whether or not she has personal problems with Michelle Ryan, the show’s lead. Talking to TV Guide, Sackhoff set the record straight. “I have no plans to leave Bionic Woman, and Michelle Ryan is doing a great job,” Sackhoff says. “There’s not one ounce of bad blood between us....

Kraven the Hunter is set to be the next film in Sony’s Spider-Man universe and is currently in production in the UK. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is no stranger to comic-book movies, having previously starred in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Kick-Ass, will be playing the titular Spider-Man villain in Kraven the Hunter. Although Sony has yet to provide an official first look at Johnson suited up as Kraven, it seems like the makers are aiming for a more stylish look for the character....

The Godfather of Funk will be the next music icon to get the biopic treatment. Deadline reports that Eddie Murphy is in talks to star in a new biopic about funk music pioneer and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer George Clinton. Murphy will also be producing the feature alongside John Davis and Catherine Davis via Davis Entertainment. This is reportedly a passion project for Murphy, who’s waiting to secure the rights to Clinton’s music and life story before setting writers and shopping the film....

Filmmaker George Lucas said that he has “just begun work” on a live-action television series rooted in the Star Wars universe, according to The Los Angeles Times. The science-fiction epic has grossed $4.3 billion in theaters worldwide. The proposed series does not have anyone from the six Star Wars films as far as connecting the audience expecting the familiar mythology. “The Skywalkers aren’t in it, and it’s about minor characters,” Lucas said in an interview....

It was one of the biggest movie events of the year, and now we know that Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be available for digital purchase on January 4, 2022. BluRay and DVD versions will release on February 1, 2022. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is canonically considered to be the third movie in the Ghostbusters franchise after 1984’s Ghostbusters and 1989’s Ghostbusters II. Jason Reitman, who wrote and directed the film, referred to it at one point as a love letter to the franchise, the fans and his father....

Fans of Giancarlo Esposito have been anticipating the actor’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as for years, there has been a lot of speculation over which character he could play. Recently, new rumors have emerged that Esposito is up for the role of Professor X in the X-Men reboot that’s in gestation at Marvel Studios. As of now, the rumors are unsubstantiated, but they have nonetheless generated a lot of discussion online with fans taking well to the idea of Esposito as Charles Xavier....

If you won’t be able to tune into HBO tonight for the two-part Season 3 premiere of Girls, “Females Only” and “Truth or Dare”, the cable network is offering fans a simple alternative. The network announced today that they will upload the first two episodes of the hit series to their YouTube channel on Monday, January 13 at 10 AM PST, just 12 hours after the episodes air. The initiative is an effort to expand the show’s online fanbase, instead of forcing them to catch up through the HBO GO on demand subscription service....

Wakey, wakey Upper East Siders. The 2000s TV series Gossip Girl gave everything. Voiced/narrated by Kristen Bell, Gossip Girl was dramatic, funny, suspenseful, and extremely binge-worthy. But most of all, the show served looks like no other. The fashion in Gossip Girl was — and still is — unmatched. It became a focal point of the show. Not only were a lot of the main characters’ careers and social lives revolving around fashion-forward spaces, but the producers managed to make each episode feel like a runway event because that was just the energy of Gossip Girl....

Hero Complex recently spoke with Guillermo del Toro and asked the filmmaker if he would be interested in directing Disney’s upcoming Maleficent feature, which is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty from the point of view of the sinister green witch who transforms into a majestic black and purple dragon. Tim Burton was previously attached to direct the film, but has since dropped out. No production date has been set. “Let me put it this way, if they ask I’ll take the meeting,” Guillermo del Toro said....

Co-Chairman of Exclusive Media Group (Exclusive), Guy East, and CEO of Hammer Films, Simon Oakes, announced today with President of Alliance Films, Charles Layton, that Exclusive and Alliance will co-finance Hammer’s new ghost story, The Woman in Black 3D, to be directed by James Watkins. This will be Hammer’s first 3-D production. Alliance will also distribute the film in the United Kingdom (Momentum), Spain (Aurum) and Canada (Alliance). Exclusive Film Distribution, headed by Alex Walton, is handling worldwide sales of the title at Cannes....

Warner Bros. has notified us that the release day for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has been moved up two days from Friday, July 13 to Wednesday, July 11. The studio did not indicate why the schedule change, however with the overwhelming success of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, which Disney had moved up its release day from Friday to Thursday, Warner Bros. may be looking to cash in on a strong “5-day opening weekend”....
