Launched on October 17, 1990, the website has grown to include exclusive information about television shows, movies, and even web series. Billed as “the world’s most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV, and celebrity content,” the site has a reliable interface for users and publications alike to leave reviews. IMDb is a predecessor to a lot of the aggregated review platforms many of us take for granted and which create a cozy atmosphere for avid film audience: Metacritic, IGN, and even platforms like Letterboxd....

MTV Networks announced that Friday’s star-hosted telethon Hope for Haiti Now drew a cumulative audience of 83 million viewers and raised more than $61 million to date: Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, drew a cumulative audience of more than 83 million viewers and a gross average audience of more than 24 million viewers in the United States, according to Nielsen Media Research. The telethon has now raised more than $61 million in donations from the general public to date....

House of the Dragon is off to a strong start on HBO, with much of the praise going to the performances from the cast. Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and Ewan Mitchell have been a few standouts through the first season. However, Matt Smith has undoubtedly been a fan favorite in his role as Daemon Targaryen. The brother of King Viserys, Daemon, has led the charge at the Battle of the Stepstones, helped his brother ascend the throne as he lost his strength, and married his niece Rhaenyra Targaryen....

The latest theatrical trailer for Steven R. Monroe’s blood curdling revenge remake I Spit on Your Grave has arrived courtesy of Yahoo! Movies! The film opens in limited release October 8th, and stars Sarah Butler as Jennifer Hills, an assaulted woman who seeks to bring unholy Hell upon her tormentors. According to Home Media Retailing, the Independent Dealers of Entertainment Association (iDEA) is going to be putting out an online “interactive white paper” in which “veteran retailers” will discuss the new high-definition disc formats. The style of the “white paper” will be in the blog format. The goal is that this “white paper” will help certain dealers cope with the inevitable changes that this new format is going to bring. Also, since there are going to be both the HD and the Blu-ray formats competing, the kind of information this blog would provide could prove to be particularly beneficial to dealers and independent retailers....

The Raiders of the Lost Ark from 1981 marked the beginning of the Indiana Jones film series, which is based on the exploits of Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr., a fictitious professor of archeology. George Lucas is the creator of the franchise, which stars Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. The Temple of Doom, a prequel, and The Last Crusade, a sequel, were released in 1984 and 1989, respectively. The Batman is jam packed with some classic villains from the history of the Dark Knight of Gotham, and thanks to a seemingly accidental post by the brother of Barry Keoghan, there could be another one to add to the roster that includes the Riddler, Carmine Falcone, Catwoman and the Penguin. Following the 10 character photos released earlier today, Fox has debuted 4 more images from Gotham. These shots feature Jada Pinkett Smith as Gotham City gangster Fish Mooney, Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock and David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne. Fox announced earlier today that the show will air on Monday nights at 8 PM ET, although a specific premiere date has not been issued yet....

Jason Lee, who starred for four seasons in the critically acclaimed comedy My Name Is Earl, has been cast in the lead role of the TNT pilot Delta Blues. He will play Dwight Hendricks, a Memphis police officer who lives with his mother and moonlights as an Elvis impersonator. The pilot for Delta Blues, which comes to TNT from George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures and Warner Horizon Television, will be directed by Emmy nominee Clark Johnson (The Shield) from a script by Liz M....

K.D. Aubert and Chris Williams have joined the cast of the upcoming sequel Still Waiting… According to Variety, Jeff Balis is directing this sequel to the 2005 surprise cult hit Waiting, which starred Ryan Reynolds and Dane Cook. The film is currently shooting in Panorama City, California. In other casting news, Sasha Alexander has come aboard the upcoming Jim Carrey comedy Yes Man. The film is being directed by Peyton Reed, and revolves around a man that challenges himself to say yes to every offer that comes his way....

Fans waiting for news on Jumanji 4 have been given an update on the next installment of the revived franchise by star Karen Gillan, but it may not be exactly what they were hoping for. The Jumanji franchise was rebooted in 2017 with Gillan joining Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart, and the leads all returned for a sequel two years later. Having grossed over $1.7 billion between the two movies, it was almost a foregone conclusion that another film would be greenlit, but with the Covid pandemic arriving soon after, there has been little movement on the new sequel....

ABC has called it quits with Life on Mars, which won’t return for a second season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has decided not to renew the series starring Jason O’Mara as 2008 Detective Sam Tyler working as a cop in 1973 New York. The series, from 20th TV and ABC Studios, will complete its 17-episode freshman series order with the season finale written as a series finale that will wrap the loose story ends, explain how Tyler got transported back in time and (maybe) bring him back to his own time....

In a dramatic expansion of its original programming lineup powered by a 31% budget increase over 2006, Lifetime Television is launching a trio of new dramas this summer – all within an 8-11 PM block on Sunday night – marking the first time any basic cable network has ever premiered three new series for the same night of the week in the same programming season, Lifetime President and CEO Betty Cohen and Entertainment President Susanne Daniels announced....
