Screen Gems has picked up the comic caper Sheneneh and Wanda, as a starring vehicle for Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence, who will play female characters they developed during their stand up comedy days, according to Variety. Foxx will write the script and he and Martin will produce together through Foxx’s Foxxhole and Lawrence’s Runteldat production banners. The project originated as a parody of a movie trailer for a film called “Skank Robbers,” which Foxx and Lawrence made for the BET Awards....

Manga Entertainment announced that Hollywood actors Jay Hernandez, Matthew Lillard and Piper Perabo will be the cast of the new Japanese animated DVD production Karas. Karas will be released in two volumes, with both English and Japanese tracks. Karas: The Prophecy arriving on April 25th and Karas: The Revelation releasing later in 2006. Karas is the 40th Anniversary animation production by the renowned Japanese animation studio Tatsunoko Productions, who produced the original Speed Racer television shows and anime favorite Gatchaman....

Fan favorite Jeopardy! guest host Mayim Bialik will temporarily fill in as host once again following the brief tenure of executive producer Mike Richards. After the death of longtime host Alex Trebek in 2020, the beloved game show employed a series of guest hosts until a permanent host could be named. It was recently announced that Richards had been tapped by Sony to host Jeopardy! full time while Bialik would host its tournament specials....

New details have been revealed regarding the accident that injured actor Jeremy Renner. On Sunday, it had been reported that Renner was airlifted to a hospital after suffering a “weather-related accident” while plowing snow. No other details about what happened were revealed, though it was noted that Renner was in “critical but stable condition” due to the accident. TMZ has reported new details of the accident, noting that he’d been airlifted at around 9:50 a....

Jesse James has signed onto an exclusive two-year deal with Spike TV. According to Variety, he will produce a new series and a number of specials in which he will also star in. Legendary action director John Woo’s 1989 Hong Kong classic The Killer will be remade in Los Angeles with a Korean star replacing Chow Yun-fat as the hard-boiled hit man, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Director John H. Lee, a Korean-American will move the action through L.A.’s Koreatown, Chinatown and South Central, said Woo’s longtime producer Terence Chang. “The actor has to be Korean in this version, but also, L.A. is a character in the film,” Chang said in an interview on the opening day of the four-day Asian Film Market....

HBO’s Girls creator and star Lena Dunham’s upcoming coming-of-age comedy Catherine Called Birdy will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, per The Hollywood Reporter.
