Japanese actress and singer Sayaka Kanda died on Saturday, December 18 at the age of 35. Kanda was best known for voicing Anna in the Japanese-dubbed version of Disney’s Frozen. She was the daughter and only child of actor Masaki Kanda and pop singer Seiko Matsuda. According to Kyodo News, Kanda was found unconscious “lying in an outdoor space on the 14th floor of the 22-story hotel” she was staying at in northern Japan....
Jim Sturgess may be the next actor to play the role of Marvel Comic’s Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, if Julie Taymor has anything to say about it. Sturgess spoke to IGN.com at SXSW 2008 about his possible involvement with Spider-Man: The Musical, and confirmed that Taymor has expressed an interest in having him play the part. Taymor had previously cast Sturgess in Across the Universe, where he sang all of his own songs....
Variety is reporting that producers Joan Singleton and Ralph S. Singleton (Because of Winn-Dixie) have acquired the rights to the novel John Belushi Is Dead for a new big screen adaptation. Kathy Charles wrote the novel, which Joan Singleton will adapt and produce with her husband, Ralph S. Singleton. Here’s a plot description, which was published by MTV Books in August: The feature rights to the novel occurred at the famous Chateau Marmont hotel in Hollywood, which is where actor John Belushi actually did die in 1982....
The rumors turned out to be true. Lady Gaga will star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the sequel to the 2019 smash hit, Joker. The film’s title is remaining Joker: Folie À Deux, and a teaser trailer was released via the official Joker accounts and director Todd Philips and Lady Gaga’s social media. Rumors of Gaga’s involvement in the sequel began circulating in June, and it’s now clear her character will be Harley Quinn, the frequent accomplice and lover to the Joker....

Fast Five director Justin Lin is teaming up with Universal Pictures once again to produce an untitled sci-fi project. Bobby Glickert, who served as Justin Lin’s assistant on Fast & Furious, pitched the project based on his outline and will produce and direct. The studio is seeking out a screenwriter. Little is known about the story of this untitled project, although it is said to be a cross between Heat and the Jason Bourne series....
With just a few weeks left until The Flash Season 3 premiere, The CW has unveiled a new extended trailer, which shows more of the alternate universe Barry Allen created. In the Season 2 finale, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) used the speed force to go back in time and save his dying mother. In the comics, when Barry did this, it resulted in the Flashpoint Paradox, a new alternate universe which is starkly different from his own world....
