Lady in the Lake is an upcoming drama miniseries starring Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram. Based on Laura Lippman’s novel of the same name, it has been co-written by Alma Har’el and Dre Ryan. Lippman spent twenty years as a reporter, twelve of which she spent at The Baltimore Sun. She was inspired to write the novel by twisted true crime stories, particularly two real-life disappearances of a girl and a young woman that occurred in the 1960s in Baltimore....

The Irish director brings his award-winning drama to the USA this summer An award-winning and crowd-pleasing hit since its 2008 debut in Ireland, director Lance Daly is finally bringing his film Kisses to the states on July 16th. This heartfelt and beautifully photographed story revolves around two kids living on the fringes of Dublin, trapped in a suburban housing estate devoid of life, color and any prospect of escape. Kylie (Kelly O’Neill) lives with five other siblings and her overworked mother....

A trio of new clips from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever offer another glimpse at the Marvel sequel. The first comes courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes and finds Danai Gurira’s Okoye and Letitia Wright’s Shuri meeting Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams — a meeting that does not go too well. Judas and the Black Messiah star Dominique Thorne will make her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as Riri Williams, gradually becoming the latest Marvel superhero, Ironheart....

Lindsay Lohan, Chris Evans, Ellen Burstyn, David Strathairn and Ann-Margret are attached to bring a long-forgotten Tennessee Williams screenplay, The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, to the big screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The screenplay tells the story of Fisher Willow (Lohan), the disliked 1920s Memphis debutante daughter of a plantation owner with a distaste for narrow-minded people and a penchant for shocking and insulting those around her. After returning from studies overseas, Fisher falls in love with Jimmy (Evans), the down-and-out son of an alcoholic father (Strathairn) and an insane mother who works at a store on her family’s plantation....

Another link is building between Smallville and Flash Gordon. According to a post on her official fan site, GinaHolden.net, Gina Holden (Flash Gordon, Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem) is coming to the town of Smallville. Although the first season of Flash Gordon is wrapping up, things are not slowing down. Having been offered the lead role in a feature film as well as a guest star role on Smallville, Gina is booked right through until March 2008....

HBO has released the first trailer for the final season of Girls, debuting Sunday, February 12 at 10 PM ET. Series creator Lena Dunham stars as Hannah Horvath, who comes to realize that she hasn’t really acted as a friend to all of her dear friends. We’ll have to wait two more months to see if Hannah Horvath can salvage any of the friendships she has fostered throughout the first five seasons....

Knives Out was an instant hit when it was released in 2019. With stunning cinematic visuals, witty writing, and a mystery that kept viewers guessing to the end, Knives Out was more than deserving of a sequel. The short theatrical release of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery launched it to the top of the box office, with some reports speculating that the Netflix film earned $13 million during its short time in theaters....

Green Lantern is a little less than a month and a half away, and its immense 3D visual effects work is still not completed. Warner Bros. has added $9 million to the film’s budget for these missing effects, with the promise that Green Lantern will be delivered on time for its scheduled June 17th bow. A couple of new VFX houses were brought in for this mad rush to get Green Lantern finished on time and into theaters, looking as awesome as fans hope....

Zenescope Entertainment has announced that actress Lena Headey, star of the immensely popular HBO television series Game of Thrones, will be joining Grimm Fairy Tales: The Animated Series to voice the lead character, Sela Mathers. Lena’s extensive resume includes her role as Queen Gorgo in 300 and as Sarah Connor in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. This announcement comes on the heels of another talented actress, Briana Evigan (Sorority Row; The Devil’s Carnival), having joined onto the project last week....

Grounded for Life: Season One is one of those shows that I remember when it was on TV, and I just didn’t watch it for whatever reason. And once again, I ended up being the person who missed out. This sit-com, which is one of the first to show a household in the new millennium, is as important as it is funny....

Finally, Gus Van Sant has taken time away from building his gay bathhouse in Portland, Oregon, to concentrate on something else. Something film related. According to Variety, the My Own Private Idaho director will be adapting Tom Wolfe’s novel The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test for the big screen. Forty years after being published, the hallucinogenic work is finally getting the scripted treatment. Big Love’s Lance Black has been hired to hone the work for theaters....

It wasn’t quite a record day, but the latest Hogwarts adventure rang up plenty of dough at the box office on its first day. According to Variety, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince took in $58.4 million on its opening day yesterday. The film opened in 4.275 theaters on Wednesday and the first-day tally includes a record-breaking $22.2 million from midnight screenings alone. The $58.4 million mark is the second-best Wednesday total, behind this summer’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and its $62 million tally....

Creator, writer, and director Olivier Assayas has remade his 1996 film Irma Vep as a series for HBO. A newly released trailer shows Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander as Mira, an American actress who travels to France to play Irma Vep (an anagram for vampire) in a remake of Louis Feuillade’s silent film Les Vampires. The series follows Mira as she becomes immersed in the character she’s portraying, blurring the lines between “artifice and authenticity,” and the difficulties that she encounters while working on the foreign film....

Henry Cavill has officially returned to his iconic role as Superman, which the actor confirmed on an Instagram post last month. In his statement, Cavill thanked his fans and supporters for their patience, promising they would be rewarded. It’s been nearly a decade since Superman received his own solo film, as Man of Steel released in 2013, followed by two appearances in team-up movies with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League....

The idea of a movie filmed entirely in one take has captivated filmmakers for decades. Alfred Hitchcock toyed with the idea in Rope (1948), which he made to appear as if it consisted of only four shots in its 80-minute runtime. Russian director Alexander Sokurov actually achieved this filmmaker’s dream in Russian Ark (2002), a 96-minute film about a narrator who wanders through the Winter Palace and interacts with famous historical figures of days past....

The Walt Disney Studios, DreamWorks Studios and IMAX Corporation announced today that two of DreamWorks’ 2011 Touchstone Pictures releases, I Am Number Four and Real Steel, will open day-and-date in digital IMAX theatres around the world. Both films are produced by DreamWorks and will be released under Disney’s Touchstone banner as part of the distribution agreement between the two companies. “DreamWorks is pleased to have the incredible team at IMAX on board for these two exciting films,” said Jeff Small, President and COO of DreamWorks Studios....

Adapting successful novels into a streaming series is not an easy task, but Netflix isn’t afraid of challenges.
