With Timothy Olyphant (Santa Clarita Diet, The Book of Boba Fett) playing the hard-as-nails U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, the series got high ratings, and six seasons followed before the series came to an end in 2015. Now the character — complete with his trademark hat — is making a comeback in Justified: City Primeval, which is due to debut on FX later this year....

HBO Max Latin America is taking Batman from Gotham City to Mexico with Batman Azteca: Choque de Imperios (Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires). Per Variety, news of the upcoming Spanish-language feature-length film was revealed Monday night at the 37th Guadalajara International Film Festival. The film is a collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation, DC, Anima and Chatrone. The story takes place during the time of the Aztec Empire, where a young boy named Yohualli Coatl loses his father and village leader, Toltecatzin, after he is murdered by Spanish conquistadors....

Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci have singed on to star in the drama Love Ranch. According to Variety, Taylor Hackford will be directing the project for Capitol Films. The plot revolves around a husband and wife team that opens the first legal brothel in Nevada. The pair finds their relationship tested when infidelity seeps into their lives and causes sudden violent outbursts. Joe and Sally Conforte, the couple that opened the Mustang Ranch back in 1976, inspired the story....

HBO’s American crime drama series, The Wire, was written by author and former police reporter David Simon. It was reported that the inspiration for the gritty crime show was loosely based on experiences from Simon’s partner Ed Burns, who was a former homicide detective. Delving into the law enforcement’s world of crime and the various institutions and systems of Baltimore, The Wire is still to this day considered possibly one of the grittiest, most realistic​​, and critically-acclaimed crime series of all time, and certainly one of the best HBO TV shows ever made....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, IFC Films has nabbed U.S. rights to Michael Cuesta’s sophomore feature Twelve and Holding, company president Jonathan Sehring said Tuesday. An early summer platform release is planned. Cuesta’s follow-up to his controversial 2001 pedophilia-themed drama LIE explores dark adolescent issues through three friends’ reactions after a boy (Conor Donovan) dies in a tree house fire set by local bullies. His twin brother (also played by Donovan) sets out for revenge, and an overweight survivor of the fire (Jesse Camacho) loses his sense of taste and smell, leading him to force his obese mother to lose weight....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, IFC Entertainment has announced a new video-on-demand service that will premiere select films at the same time they’re released in theaters. The announcement came Monday morning at an IFC Films panel on collapsing release date windows, vertical integration and the new day-and-date distribution model. IFC’s First Take, the new distribution outlet, will launch in March with Kevin Willmott’s CSA: The Confederate States of America, a mockumentary about what might have happened if the South had won the Civil War, which played at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival....

The new Indiana Jones movie is practically in the can according to its director, which means that a new ending isn’t getting filmed as has been reported. Recently, composer John Williams got the rumor mill spinning when he said that the movie had “maybe another ending to shoot.” This led to speculation that a new ending was getting filmed after how the sequel performed with test screenings, suggesting that the ending as it is didn’t satisfy fans with how it ended Harrison Ford’s run as the iconic adventurer....

Neil Gaiman and Michael Reaves’ rich work of art entitled Interworld has been optioned by DreamWorks Animation. Gaiman recently wrote about it on his personal web page: “Back in 1996 Michael Reaves was working doing adventure cartoon serials at Dreamworks Animation. He started talking to me about an idea for something that could be a potential animated story, and we began knocking ideas back and forth about what we’d want to see animated and why, and that became an idea about a boy who finds himself in the middle of a war between two equally powerful forces, who joins a super-team consisting of versions of himself from different alternate realities to try and maintain the cosmic balance....

The Guardian is reporting that with all the hype around Matthew Vaughn’s soon to be released superhero film Kick-Ass, there is a fair amount of talk about what he might do next. It seems that Vaughn may have inked a deal to direct an adaptation of the English television and radio presenter Jonathan Ross’ comic book mini series Turf. The Guardian reports: Giving this story even more credence is the fact that Ross is married to Jane Goldman who co-wrote the screenplay for Kick-Ass and Stardust....

Jessica Rothe has replaced Samara Weaving in the upcoming action-thriller Boy Kills World. Rothe will join the film in a supporting role, essaying the role of an assassin called June 27. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ready Or Not actress Samara Weaving had to step down from her casting in the film due to her prior commitments that caused scheduling conflict. Rothe will be joining an ensemble in Boy Kills World, which will include Bill Skarsgård (It, Atomic Blonde) playing the central character, as well as Yayan Ruhian (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum), Isaiah Mustafa (Shadowhunters), and Andrew Koji (Snake Eyes)....

Todd Phillips sparked a lot of interest in Joker sequel, Joker: Folie a Deux, over the weekend after sharing a first look at Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck from the movie. Of course, we have seen Phoenix’s title character before, so what everyone wanted to know was when we will get a first look at the other half of the dance; Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Phillips has now followed up on the huge number of requests he has had asking about that very thing, but fans will have a little wait to see Lady G make her first appearance....

Community has been a key addition to NBC’s Thursday night comedy block with its breakout first season, with episodes airing on Thursday nights at 8 PM ET on NBC. Next week’s new episode, Basic Genealogy, will air on Thursday, March 11 and will feature a guest-starring spot from former American Idol sensation Katharine McPhee, who will play the stepdaughter to Chevy Chase’s character on the show. The singer/actress recently held a conference call to discuss her upcoming role on the show, and here’s what she had to say....
