David Lynch’s Inland Empire is a boring, excessive, abstract piece of filmmaking that falls far short of nearly all the films this acclaimed director previously released. For those that didn’t know, Lynch’s early films are filled with extraordinary vision and depth. Most importantly, he simply has a knack for spinning a good tale. James Gunn made a massive move earlier this week as the filmmaker reached a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery and DC, making Gunn the co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios. His role will be similar to what Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige does, as Gunn will be responsible for the creative direction of the connected universe that is currently going through some changes under David Zaslav’s regime. Guardians of the Galaxy fans may be in for a very long wait to see any footage from the franchise’s upcoming third installment, as James Gunn has almost ruled out a trailer arriving anytime this year. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 not arriving in cinemas until May 2023, it was always going to be unlikely that a full trailer would drop that far in advance. In one of his latest Q&A Twitter replies, the director has made a simple but clear statement that fans shouldn’t anticipate a trailer coming before the end of 2022....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Ritter has been tapped to star in The Class, CBS’ new comedy series from David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik. The Class, from Warner Bros. TV, begins with a party thrown by 27-year-old Ethan (Ritter) for his girlfriend, whom he met in third grade. Ethan invites six other people who were in the class with them, all of whom have since lost touch with one another....

Gold Derby has learned that Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges will host the December 18 episode of Saturday Night Live. The episode will fit right between the actor’s two high-profile end-of-year holiday releases, with Tron: Legacy opening one day before the show on December 17, and his Western remake True Grit opening a week later on Christmas Day. Jeff Bridges, who won an Oscar earlier this year for Best Actor in Crazy Heart, will be eligible for an Emmy award for this particular hosting gig....

The pair return for the sequel of the lovable tabby cat In the world of animation inside live-action, Walt Disney started it all with Mary Poppins. But in the 40 years since that classic, many other studios have perfected it. Fox did it a few years ago with Garfield: The Movie; now, the lovable fat cat is back in Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties. Soldier Boy wants everyone to know that winners don’t use drugs in a retro-style PSA released days ahead of The Boys returning with season 3. On June 3, the long-awaited third season will arrive, and with it will come the introduction of series newcomer Jensen Ackles in the role of Soldier Boy, a Captain America-style patriotic superhero. To promote the new season, showrunner Eric Kripke shared an ad from the Vought vault with Soldier Boy warning his young fans against the dangers of drug use....

It has been awhile, but we finally have our first look at Jessica Jones season 3. Today, Netflix has launched the release date announcement teaser along with several first look images. We can expect the final episodes for Marvel’s final Netflix series in just a few weeks. Sometimes not even ‘heroes’ can save themselves. Marvel’s Jessica Jones season 3 begins June 14th. This will be the final season for what was initially the second Marvel series released as a Netflix original....

Jill Latiano is set for the lead role in the drama pilot, The Virgin of Akron, Ohio for Lifetime. With Laurie Metcalf already attached, Brian Kerwin, Chelah Horsdal, Landon Liboiron, Matthew John Armstrong and Shawn Roberts are also joining the cast. The show centers on Raleigh (Latiano), a young model in Manhattan who after a stint in rehab is sent back to her Ohio town to do community service and live with her dysfunctional family....

Joseph Gordon Levitt is playing the best friend to Duke, leader of G.I. Joe in the film adaptation of the 1980s cartoon - and this same best friend may turn out to be Cobra Commander.
