2006 was not a good year for film. There were a few gems sprinkled throughout, but the overall product was tremendously uninspiring. Studio films took bland and formulaic to new heights, while the so-called Indies sold out completely to big name stars. Indie films used to be about ’the anti-establishment, middle finger to the box office, damn it all to hell for art’ school of filmmaking. Now they’re just Oscar audition tapes for the A-listers and their need to show range....

Returning to Netflix for a third season on May 21, DreamWorks Animation has released the full season three trailer for the Annie Award-winning series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. Inspired by the Jurassic World franchise, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at Camp Cretaceous, a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar, must work together to survive when dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island....

Jurassic World Dominion is bringing something old, something new, something feathered, and something Blue to the party this year, with the return of some old dinosaurs and introductions to new ones in the epic conclusion to the Jurassic World trilogy. While the trailer has shown the long-awaited return of the dilophosaurus from the original Jurassic Park, Blue the velociraptor, and some new scientifically accurate feathered dinosaurs, Empire Magazine have revealed a first look at the new Giganotosaurus – the “Giga” for short, which director Colin Trevorrow has likened to Batman’s Joker....

Ryan Coogler is not directing Avengers: Secret Wars. Well, not yet. Coogler, who recently directed MCU’s latest entry, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was in rumors to pick up Avengers: Secret Wars. Throughout the press tours for Wakanda Forever, Coogler was repeatedly asked about any potential signing for Secret Wars, which he always humbly declined. In his defense, Coogler pointed out that he will get busy with Ironheart soon after the Black Panther sequel, and there are Proximity Media projects such as Creed III to look after....

Earlier today, Scream 4 writer Kevin Williamson announced on his twitter page that he’s “writing. late night”. MTV has caught up with the scriptwriter and confirmed he is completing the script for Scream 4, and concurrently writing the 5th installment as well. Legendary director Martin Scorsese’s new movie, Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, is among the most anticipated films of the year. The film is adapted from the book of the same name by author David Grann. It is also the director’s highest-budget work, with $200 million. The film will tell the story of the systematic massacre of the Osage Nation between 1920 and 1925 after oil was discovered on their soil....

The two stars dish out tidbits about the horror/thriller There are scary horror films, funny horror films, and then those in between - on the brink of being a little of both. Pulse kind of comes in the middle of all three. You can’t really place where it would go in the scale of the horror/thriller genre; there are some special effects that give it features from each. It looks like Paris Hilton has made her decision. According to Variety, the heiress will be giving her first post-jail interview to CNN’s Larry King Live. King was the benefactor of the interview after a nasty booking war broke out between ABC and NBC. ABC tried everything in its power to land the Princess of the Night Life set, even promising Barbara Walters as the interviewer. NBC countered that with a million dollar offer....

Last Week Tonight won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Talk Series at the 74th Emmy Awards, which was its seventh win in a row for that category. Ever since Jon Stewart stepped down from The Daily Show in 2015, John Oliver’s weekly HBO show has received more critical acclaim and awards than any other talk show, winning 26 Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, five Writers Guild of America Awards, and countless others....

The writer and director of the horror sequel, Saw II, tell all, well not all, but some! I first want to warn you when you read this. There are a few mini-spoilers about the plot of the film. It doesn’t give anything away from the awesome twists and turns this movie takes, but Leigh and Darren really talk about some internal stuff dealing with the story line. With her fan favorite role of Arya Stark, the series even ended with a promising future for the character. Last year, a long-lost George A. Romero film, The Amusement Park, was finally released to the world via streaming service Shudder. Fans of the horror master are in for another treat next month when the director’s short film Jacaranda Joe will receive its first-ever public screening in a free virtual event on April 12th. The film is one of the many gems among the George A. Romero Archival Collection that the University of Pittsburgh Libraries acquired in 2019 and have been working on preserving the legend’s lesser-known work....

The popularity of Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion continues to break records on Nielsen’s streaming chart after the Knives Out sequel took the title of being the most streamed movie within a monitored week. As per Deadline, on its first full week of release between Dec. 26 and Jan. 1, Glass Onion passed both Hocus Pocus 2 and Wonder Woman 1984 with 2.9 billion minutes viewed. Added to its opening week, which consisted of only a few days, Glass Onion now holds two places on Top Ten weekly volumes since Nielsen began compiling data....

The longest-running primetime medical drama is back this fall with a new set of residents and even bigger stakes. Though leading actress Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) is ready for the show to come to an end, Grey’s Anatomy is returning to ABC with new cast members and stories next month. Created by Shonda Rhimes, the show initially followed a group of surgical interns on their journeys of finding a specialization and learning the ropes....

HBO Max has recently announced that the platform will not be renewing Head of the Class for a second season. The reboot of the late ’80s sitcom recently premiered on the platform last month, and has received pretty average reviews so far (67% on Rotten Tomatoes). Warner Bros. had released 10 episodes of the multi-camera series on November 4. An HBO Max spokesperson provided the following statement in an interview with Deadline....

Shelley Duvall is finally returning to horror after a long hiatus from acting. With today’s announcement from Deadline that The Shining actress will appear in writer-director Scott Goldberg’s indie horror-thriller The Forest Hills, Duvall will be appearing in her first film in 20 years. From producer Scott Hansen, Dreznick Goldberg Productions, and Digital Thunderdome Studios, with Goldberg serving as co-producer, The Forest Hills film stars Duvall, Edward Furlong as Billy (maybe a werewolf), Chiko Mendez as Rico (billed as a man who Billy convinces that he is a werewolf), and Dee Wallace....
