After several decades in show business, James Hong knows what he’s looking for when it comes to choosing his roles. A veteran of the screen, the prolific actor is just as busy as he’s ever been, showing no signs of slowing down at 93 years old. This includes a role in the acclaimed movie Everything Everywhere All at Once, which hit theaters this year, along with a voiceover role in the all-new animated film Wendell & Wild on Netflix....

The 54-person board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is welcoming some fresh faces, The Hollywood Reporter reports. The board, which consists of three elected governors from each of the organization’s 17 branches along with three “governors-at-large” appointed by the president, elected 12 new governors following elections held over the past month. Among the first-time position holders are Blumhouse chief and Get Out producer Jason Blum, representing the producers branch, and Oscar-winner Marlee Matlin (Children of a Lesser God, CODA) who will advocate for the actors branch....

Jay Baruchel hasn’t given up hope that he will play the villainous Maxwell Lord in George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal - yet. The actor spoke to JoBlo about the film, and while he hasn’t closed himself to the possibility of production resuming, he doesn’t seem too optimistic about the chances of it either. Baruchel said: Well it’s been postponed indefinitely. And it keeps getting postponed. And each time it gets postponed, the chances of it getting made seem to decrease…It’s never been officially over....

Kevin Bacon, John Hurt, Robert Patrick, and Ray Stevenson have joined the cast of Jayne Mansfield’s Car for director Billy Bob Thornton. Billy Bob Thornton co-wrote the screenplay with Tom Epperson, which revolves around the culture clash of two families from different continents in 1969. We reported back in January that Robert Duvall joined the cast. John Patrick Amedori has also landed one of the lead roles in the project, although no character specifics were given....

Joan Cusack, Chris O’Donnell, Julia Ormond and Wallace Shawn are the latest to come on board the Depression-era feature Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery, starring Abigail Breslin in the title role. They join previously cast Stanley Tucci, Jane Krakowski and Glenne Headly, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Also cast in the project are young actors Max Thieriot, Madison Davenport, Zach Mills and Willow Smith. HBO Films held open casting calls in several cities for the roles of some of Kit Kittredge’s friends....

Joe Keery, Lamorne Morris and Richa Moorjani are joining the season five cast of FX’s Fargo, Variety reports. Keery, Morris and Moorjani join previously announced lead cast members Juno Temple (Ted Lasso), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), and Jennifer Jason Leigh (Atypical). The fifth season of Noah Crowley’s anthology series will be its most contemporary season, taking place in 2019. While plot details remain unknown the official logline asks: “when is a kidnapping not a kidnapping, and what if your wife isn’t yours?...

Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato are headed back to Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam to be exact. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel to last year’s top-rated cable telecast will feature a new director and writer, plus a plot that borrows from Shakespeare. Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam will begin production this summer and debut next year on Disney Channel. The story has the characters played by Lovato and Kevin, Nick and Joe Jonas returning to their beloved Camp Rock, only to discover that some of the students and instructors have ditched it for nearby rival Camp Star....

Former House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey has been ordered to pay the show’s producer MRC nearly $31 million in damages for his alleged sexual misconduct behind the scenes, a judge confirmed on Thursday. Spacey was sacked from his role as Frank Underwood on the Netflix drama in 2017 after allegations arose that the actor was sexually preying on several young men on set—including the alleged groping of a production assistant....

Sony’s expanding universe of Spider-Man characters is clearly getting a boost from the inclusion of many Sony based characters in Marvel’s latest adventure, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and one of the upcoming characters that was very briefly hinted at in the movie was Kraven The Hunter, one of the new spin-off movies coming in the wake of the likes of Morbius and any future Venom movies. Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role, the Kraven The Hunter movie is apparently now all set to get cameras rolling in the coming month....

George Miller, director of the upcoming Justice League of America, considers Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the other members of the league to be directly tied to the ancient Greek gods, according to a report in Neos Kosmos. “The Justice League superheroes are in fact related to ancient Greek gods and that will be my reference point,” Miller says. Miller wouldn’t be the first person to make this connection. When comic-book legend Grant Morrison took over writing duties on the Justice League of America comic, he explicitly drew parallels between the Justice League and the Olympian gods....

Gilmore Girls, the iconic, perfect Fall-time television show, just celebrated its 20th anniversary on October 5th. IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix shattered virtually every opening box office record at IMAX theatres during its debut, contributing $7.3 million of the $140 million that the film grossed at the domestic box office, from July 11 through Sunday, July 15. The picture also broke the record for IMAX’s largest single day worldwide total at $1.9 million and posted a domestic opening per screen average of $80,500....
