Heartstopper is the latest teen television series that celebrates and champions its diverse cast of LGBTQIA+ characters, and audiences are calling it one of the best of 2022. Released in an eight-episode season on Netflix, the show dropped on April 22 of this year and has been warming the hearts of audiences around the world ever since. The series is based upon the celebrated graphic novel by Alice Oseman, known for its illustrations of fall leaves criss-crossing its pages....

Love stories are a timeless concept. In classical mythology Venus and Cupid are commonly depicted as the God and Goddess of Love, associated with desire, passion, erotic love and attraction. Since the dawn of man this social construct has passed through millennia, gradually accumulating greater significance until Hollywood seemingly birthed the global clamor for that ‘perfect’ (and largely impossible) relationship, the one where you stare contently into each other’s eyes every night, and where nothing else seems to matter....

The Magic Mike franchise began back in 2012 when Magic Mike was released, it took the world by storm and became an entire empire of stage shows and sequels and even an on-stage musical. The initial film grossed over $167 million against a $7 million budget. The screenplay was partially inspired by Channing Tatum’s past as a stripper in Florida at a young age. The film follows Adam who is 19 years old (Alex Pettyfer) as he begins at a male strip club and is guided by Mike Lange (Channing Tatum)....

Since Bruce Banner made an appearance at the end of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Marvel fans have been questioning how Banner is back to his human form after seemingly coming to a compromise with Hulk that they would live as Smart Hulk. While there have been many theories about why this is, including potential leads into the possible long rumored World War Hulk storyline, the belief that Marvel have reacquired the rights to the Hulk as a standalone character, and of course Mark Ruffalo’s upcoming appearance in the She-Hulk series on Disney+, we finally have an official reason why it is Banner and not Smart Hulk that turns up in the Shang-Chi mid-credits scene....

NBC’s cancelled sitcom Community may have new life, with Hulu and the show’s producers, Sony Pictures Television, entering preliminary talks for a sixth season on the streaming service. We reported in March that Sony Pictures Television would shop Community around to other outlets such as Hulu, which retains the digital rights to the series. Comedy Central has the off-network rights to the show, which could complicate negotiations for Sony and Hulu....

With just under one week left to secure a new home before the actors’ deals expire, the streaming service Hulu has abandoned negotiations to revive Community for a sixth and final season. Hulu was first mentioned as a possible new home for Community back in March, months before the show was actually cancelled in May by NBC. Hulu retains the digital rights to the comedy series, but Comedy Central has the off-network rights, which may have complicated the negotiations for Community’s resurrection on Hulu....

Hulu has released the official trailer for season five of its acclaimed dystopian drama series, The Handmaid’s Tale. Picking up from the shocking season 4 finale, The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 sees June Osborne (Elizabeth Moss) fighting back against the oppressive Gilead while trying to reunite with her daughter. Director George Miller might be planning to have the Justice League take over Middle Earth - so to speak. According to a report in the New Zealand news site stuff.co.nz, Miller is now considering taking his superhero epic Justice League: Mortal to the country where Peter Jackson filmed The Lord of the Rings. The film had already hired staff from New Zealand’s Weta Workshop to design costumes for the film....

James Cameron’s commitment to the Avatar franchise is something that has never been in doubt. As Avatar: The Way of Water draws closer, it has become clear that the director had spent more than two decades of his life creating the world of Pandora. According to Cameron’s long-time producing partner Jon Landau, that included writing over 1000 pages of notes that would eventually become the Avatar sequels. Avatar was originally released in 2009, and it has taken James Cameron over a decade to develop and shoot the first of its sequels....

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is available on Blu-ray and DVD this week. To celebrate the anticipated release of this smash hit prequel, we caught up with senior visual effects supervisor Joe Letteri to discuss the film’s remarkable achievements in creating realistic, life-like apes. Andy Serkis, who brought the film’s star Ape Caesar to life, is currently collaborating with Joe Letteri once again for The Hobbit: There and Back Again....

Jurassic World: Dominion will bring the Jurassic World trilogy to a close, linking directly to the original Jurassic Park movies by bringing back original stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum for the finale. However, producer Frank Marshall has been quick to point out that while this is the final movie in the current trilogy, it does not mean this will be the final film in the franchise, and Jurassic World 4 is a real possibility if the story is there....

Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson is developing a single-camera comedy series for NBC, and Chris Rock has been brought in to direct the pilot. Called Saving Kenan, the series will star Thompson as a newly widowed father, described as “determined to be everything for his kids while begrudgingly letting his persistent father-in-law become more involved in their lives.” Rock has some TV directing experience, having helmed an episode of Everybody Hates Chris and a 2015 comedy special from Amy Schumer....

However, this is not the first time that she has tackled a project that revolves around a strong-willed, powerful woman.
