It seems like Guillermo del Toro may have found yet another new niche in his diverse and ever-growing portfolio of work. After his uniquely crafted, stop-motion adaptation of Pinocchio (2022) was released to mass acclaim from both critics and audiences, del Toro is already eagerly announcing his next big project. In a recent sit-down interview with The Telegraph, del Toro disclosed that his next film, again using hand-crafted stop-motion animation, will bring to life the world of Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel The Buried Giant....

Pablo Schreiber will be playing Spartan and Earth’s overall hero, Master Chief, in the highly anticipated Halo adaptation on Paramount+. Recently, Schreiber sat down with Comicbook.com and spoke about his experiences playing the character on the set. He also spoke on what seems to be a growing fad for streaming shows lately: the removal of the helmet. Indeed, Master Chief will be the next character to pull this off in the upcoming series....

Following the revelation that Indiana Jones 5 will indeed feature a de-aged Harrison Ford looking like he did way back when the intrepid archeologist made his debut in 1981, Ford has commented on seeing the effect in action. Speaking with Empire Magazine, Ford heaped praise on the de-aging that will bring young Indy back for the opening sequences of the fifth outing and calls it the first time that the special effect has been truly believable....

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the first film in the series to take a dramatic departure from J.K. Rowlings hugely popular novels. It relies less on plot development and is more in the vein of a summer popcorn blockbuster. The film is laden with special effects and uses skillful editing to make the action scenes much bigger than anything we’ve seen in the franchise. Director Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) brings a lighter approach that works well in the comedic scenes, but really fails during the darker moments....

HBO’s Watchmen TV series is moving right along, as the show’s pilot has officially enlisted director Nicole Kassell. The series comes from Damon Lindelof, who previously worked with Kassell on The Leftovers. Kassell directed a couple of key episodes of that HBO series including No Room at the Inn and It’s a Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt World. It’s been reported previously that the Watchmen TV pilot will begin shooting in March, giving Kassell, Lindelof and the network a little over a month to get everything ready....

According to Variety it looks like HBO, Paramount Pictures and Robert Evans will be telling the story of Sidney Korshak. Korshak was a Chicago attorney who came to Hollywood and created relationships with politicos, labor leaders, showbiz types and the underworld. He used his considerable clout to “fix” various situations in Hollywood. HBO bought the Vanity Fair article “The Devil and Sidney Korshak” which was written by Nick Tosches. Robert Evans will be producing the project from a script by Art Monterastelli....

The Return. Few filmmakers are so distinct that they become their own adjective, but David Lynch is one of those people. The director and storyteller has been exploring what makes the human psyche tick, and giving us Lynchian nightmares in the best possible way ever since he emerged with his 1977 debut feature Eraserhead. Since then, Lynch has perfected his dreamy, surreal, and absurdly comic style, and gifted audiences with some of the most influential films of all time, even if he’s now supposedly retired from feature films....

And while on the subject of winning plays in Los Angeles, Kathleen Turner turned quite a few heads starring in Edward Albee’s drama, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf at the Ahmanson Theater. Her over the top sexuality and bitchy dialogue were a sight to behold, and Bill Irwin as her harassed hubby, matched her point to point. We particularly were impressed by David Furr’s portrayal of Ned, the handsome biology professor who becomes Turner’s unwitting prey....

The 1979 gothic novel Flowers in the Attic by American novelist V. C. Andrews was an instant bestseller, and it’s easy to see why. The book explores taboo topics of murder, rape, incest, and child abuse. It’s a dark and twisted story and one that breaks the mold. The characters are complex, extremely flawed, and ruthless in their actions. In addition, there is something haunting about them and the way they unapologetically abuse one another to reach their goals....

Werewolf by Night has finally arrived on Disney+ and has been a hit with fans and critics alike. The Halloween special introduces not only the titular monster into the Marvel Cinematic Universe but also the monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone and the popular cult icon Man-Thing. The black-and-white special tells a self-contained story and can be enjoyed by both hardcore Marvel fans and also those unfamiliar with the franchise and just want a good old fashion monster movie throwback....

Given the level of secrecy on a show like AMC’s The Walking Dead, even seemingly-unrelated casting announcements for different shows have an impact on the zombie series. Last month, CBS All Access announced that Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Sasha on The Walking Dead, has been cast as the series lead on Star Trek Discovery, marking the first time an African-American female has been given the lead of a Star Trek series, and the first time that the lead character won’t be a captain....

Marvel Studios and Hulu are coming together to release adult animated shows based on Howard the Duck, M.O.D.O.K., Hit-Monkey, and Tigra & Dazzler. The three shows will then culminate in a crossover special The Offenders, where the groups combine to save the world. While that’s all great news, it gets even better. The four series are being written and executive produced by Patton Oswalt, Kevin Smith, Chelsea Handler, along with Josh Gordon and Will Speck....

We have known since last November that two back-to-back Independence Day sequels were being planned, although we haven’t had much information on the story for either Independence Day 2 or Independence Day 3. MTV Movies Blog spoke with director Roland Emmerich, who dropped a big hint that Will Smith may be the President of the United States in the sequels. Here’s an excerpt from their interview: We also reported back in March that Will Smith was locked in to star in both movies and that they could start shooting early next year....

The Green Hornet is still set to hit theaters nationwide on December 22, although it seems the studio isn’t happy with the product thus far. IESB.net is reporting from sources that Sony Pictures are, “displeased with the results” of the film, which has already wrapped production. Here’s an excerpt from the site’s article. The site is also reporting that another comic book adaptation, Lobo, “won’t be happening anytime soon.” We reported back in January that director Guy Ritchie had abandoned the project to take on the fast-tracked sequel Sherlock Holmes 2....

Legendary Ghostbusters producer Ivan Reitman died Saturday in his sleep at home, as reported by The Associated Press. Reitman was the highly successful producer behind several top comedies like Animal House and of course, Ghostbusters. Undoubtedly the world will be grieving the death of another film icon with this tremendous loss. He was 75 years old. “Our family is grieving the unexpected loss of a husband, father, and grandfather who taught us to always seek the magic in life,” children Jason Reitman, Catherine Reitman and Caroline Reitman said in a joint statement....

The villain in the next 007 adventure has been widely rumored to be Ernst Stavro Blofeld, with Michael Sheen said to be taking on the part. This was reported over more than a year ago, and the same rumor has started to resurface in recent weeks. But there has been no confirmation on that fact. Today, we are hearing that Blofeld, who has appeared in seven previous Bond installments, actually won’t be in James Bond 23....

Actor Jamie Bell has outright called his 2015 superhero venture, Fantastic Four (stylized as Fant4stic Four), a disaster. Fant4stic Four was released in 2015 as an intended reboot of the early 2000s Fantastic Four films. Directed by Josh Trank, the film was supposed to tie up with Fox’s other Marvel Comics property, X-Men Series. However, upon release, Fant4stic Four was met with a highly negative reception and became a massive box-office flop....

Action star Jason Statham is looking to join the new thriller Echelon, although a deal is not in place yet. Eric Bana had previously been attached to star. Echelon is based on Andy McNab’s novel Firewall, the third in a series of 13 books which follows ex-SAS agent Nick Stone, who Jason Statham will play if he signed on. The story centers on Stone, who becomes caught in the middle of Russian and American covert forces trying to acquire the powerful Echelon computer system....

Jay Baruchel will star in the comedy Johnny Klutz for Universal, with Rob McKittrick set to write the script for Red Hour. According to The Hollywood Reporter, working from his love of physical comedy, Baruchel created the character of Klutz, a lovable loser who is impervious to pain. He paired with Red Hour in the fall, pitching the concept to Universal execs Lawrence Grey and Eric Baiers. Grey has since departed the studio, a victim of company’s December layoffs....

Evil never dies, so as long as it’s making money. This fall, Halloween Ends will hit theaters, bringing an end to the trilogy of Halloween movies at Blumhouse that began with the 2018 reboot. That film served as a legacy sequel to the original Halloween from 1978 by director John Carpenter, ignoring every other sequel and reboot in the franchise. There are no plans to move on with a fourth installment after Halloween Ends, so the sequel was developed with the intention of concluding the story....
