2019 was an interesting year for the Critters franchise. It saw two distinctly different attempts to revive the cute but deadly little space creatures that genre fans fell in love with back in 1986. Yes, it was kind of a shameless knock-off of Gremlins, but the stellar execution of the first two Critters movies successfully created a fun standalone sci-fi/horror franchise. The two mini-monster movies are distinctly different as well....

The impractical jokes aren’t ending anytime soon, as the popular TruTV series Impractical Jokers hast just been renewed for a tenth season. What’s even better for the group known as the Tenderloins - Joe Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, and Sal Vulcano - is that the renewal is just one part of a new first-look deal the group just signed with WarnerMedia that will see them develop and produce original unscripted and scripted programming for TNT, TBS, TruTV, and HBO Max....

Stark Industries is the fictional company created by Howard Stark in the MCU. Stark Industries plays a large part in the entirety of the MCU but is the most prominent in the Iron Man franchise. Obviously, this is because the company is a big part of Tony Stark’s story and thus Iron Man’s story. Iron Man would not exist without Stark Industries and vice versa; the Stark Industries company would not be what it is without Iron Man....

Screenwriter Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven have already brought back some key, surviving characters for Scream 4, but it seems they may be bringing back a dead character as well. CHUD has learned that producers have been in talks with Jamie Kennedy to return for Scream 4 . Of course, Kennedy’s film-buff character Randy was killed off in Scream 2 and the site is reporting that they haven’t been told how Randy’s character would be resurrected for the fourth film....

Laughter is the best medicine, and Chris Evans is helping out his friend Jeremy Renner with that following the latter’s brutal accident that occurred at the start of the year. On New Year’s Day, Renner had been using a snowcat when a freak accident resulted in the actor getting crushed by the vehicle. Suffering from blunt chest trauma, 30 broken bones, and other injuries, Renner was rushed to the ICU in critical condition, though he’s since been sent back home, where he is continuing his recovery....

Kevin Spacey has been set by Warner Bros. to play the villain in Joe Claus, according to Variety. The comedy will be directed by David Dobkin and also starring Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti. The film, written by Dan Fogelman, was originally titled Fred Claus, but the studio encountered title clearance problems. The role marks back-to-back Warner Bros. villains for Spacey, who plays Lex Luthor in this summer’s Bryan Singer-directed Superman Returns....

Kim Kardashian joins the cast of Lifetime’s critically acclaimed Sony Pictures Television series Drop Dead Diva for a multiple-episode arc beginning with the season premiere. The show’s fourth season is set to begin filming in February, with new episodes premiering this summer. Kardashian will play Nikki, Fred’s (Ben Feldman) new love interest who partners with his ex Stacy (April Bowlby) in a new business venture. Kardashian joins an impressive list of guest stars who have appeared on Drop Dead Diva including Liza Minnelli, Rosie O’Donnell, Paula Abdul, Brandy Norwood, LeAnn Rimes, Elliott Gould, Kathy Griffin and Tim Gunn....

While Encanto’s cinematic run may not have been as lucrative as Disney would have liked, its reception since it made its Disney+ debut in December has seen the movie become another House of Mouse phenomenon. As well as becoming a huge streaming hit on the platform, the film has seen its songs hit the top of the music charts on both sides of the Atlantic, a first for any Disney movie....

Dimension Films announced today that it has acquired the rights to the vampire thriller Garden District written by Anthony Jaswinski (Vanishing on 7th Street) and Luke Goltz (You and I). In the film, after a mysterious video of a vampire’s execution goes viral, a trio of young, ambitious myth-debunkers head to New Orleans to find out if the video was real or fake. They soon find themselves up against dark forces and in over their heads....

Dick Van Dyke stars along with his son Barry and grandson Shane in the upcoming Hallmark Channel movie Murder 101: If Wishes Were Horses which premiers August 18. The three previously worked together on episodes of Diagnosis Murder. This is the third film in the Murder 101 series. “Initially I think the plan was to do four in a year in the first year,” explains Barry. The plan got sidetracked when Dick went off to film Night at the Museum....

The CW show Gossip Girl is taking a fresh stab at reruns. The CW Network has announced that it will begin airing the first season of Gossip Girl, but the reruns will kick off with a 90-minute special dubbed Gossip Girl Revealed on Monday January 28. The special will air the pilot and will also offer some DVD-like bonus features. The special will be hosted by the cast of the show and will also include interviews with the cast members Blake Lively (“Serena van der Woodsen”), Leighton Meester (“Blair Waldorf”), Penn Badgley (“Dan Humphrey”), Chace Crawford (“Nate Archibald”), Taylor Momsen (“Jenny Humphrey”), Ed Westwick (“Chuck Bass”), Kelly Rutherford (“Lily van der Woodsen”), Matthew Settle (“Rufus Humphrey”) and Jessica Szohr (“Vanessa”)....

Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that the screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be released in two parts. The announcement was made by Jeff Robinov, President of Warner Bros. Pictures Group. Robinov also announced that director David Yates, who earlier helmed the 2007 summer blockbuster Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and is currently in production on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, will direct Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows....

Marvel Studios announced today that Hayley Atwell has been cast to star as Peggy Carter in the studio’s highly anticipated movie Captain America: The First Avenger opposite Chris Evans. In the early comics, Peggy Carter fell in love with Captain America while they fought together in the war effort. The character will be updated for the feature adaptation. Joe Johnston will direct the film penned by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely....

HBO Max has shared a first glimpse at Kate Winslet in the upcoming limited series The Palace. The series documents a year inside the palace walls of a crumbling European regime. Though little is known about the characters or plot, the still of a frighteningly formidable Winslet sitting expectantly in a gilded room makes it easy to imagine the actress as an authoritarian leader. Promising “a new regime” alongside the first image of Winslet, the streamer also shared that The Palace has officially entered production....
