Game of Thrones has acquired a reputation for shockingly killing off characters, but per author George R.R. Martin, all the deaths, no matter how devastating, serve a purpose and have an emotional impact on the audience. However, Martin believes that the same cannot be said of Star Wars, especially given that the series has a significantly higher body count than Game of Thrones. In a recent interview with The Independent, Martin argues that 1977’s A New Hope killed off billions of people with the destruction of Alderaan, but nobody cared about it....

Legendary Pictures’ Monsterverse was given a huge boost in 2020 when Godzilla vs Kong became one of the first hit movies of the Covid pandemic. Now the sequel has kicked off shooting in Australia under the working title of “Origins.” Although the movie is not listed to premiere until 2024, the return of the two gargantuan monsters, and whatever else they bring with them this time around, require a hefty amount of post-production work, and it seems that a release date of around two years should mean there are no delays seen to the schedule like many other recent movies....

The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 is happening at Hulu. The streaming service has officially renewed the critically-acclaimed series for another season, following the success of the premiere episodes of the show’s sophomore run. Hulu made the reveal during an annual upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers. It’s no surprise that they would want to drop this news for people buying ads, as the series has been a massive hit for the streaming service and confirming that the show will be back for at least one more season doesn’t hurt anything....

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that the theatrical teaser trailer for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will debut in theaters on November 17th. The trailer will be shown before the screening of Happy Feet. The trailer will then appear online in the coming weeks. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix arrives in conventional and IMAX theatres on July 13, 2007 and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Imelda Staunton, George Harris and Helena Bonham Carter....

It’s a superb show, one which plays around with genre in order to develop its mish-mashed group of endearing losers at a community college, and its writing and themes reward viewers who dig down and explore them in a lot of detail. Colossal is a movie unlike anything an audience has seen. Directed by Nacho Vigalondo and premiering in 2016 at the Toronto International Film Festival before getting a theatrical release in 2017, Colossal tells the story of Gloria (Anne Hathaway) an unemployed writer who is kicked out of her apartment by her boyfriend due to her excessive drinking. Gloria moves back to her old town where she reconnects with childhood friend Oscar (Jason Sudeikis), and the two begin to bond at the bar he works at....

The salaries of movie and TV stars isn’t often a matter of public record, although when some actors pull in a record pay-day, it’s often reported. Netflix is still a fairly new presence in the TV environment, but it seems they are paying some of their stars quite well, after just a few years of churning out a slew of original programs. A new survey was released today that revealed the highest salaries per-episodes for dramatic and comedic stars, and the streaming service has a major presence in both categories, with three out of the top 5 highest salaries in the drama category....

The Good This is a great sketch comedy show that really holds up. The Bad No special features. “Some content has been edited for this DVD release.” For some reason, I thought that In Living Color ran from longer than 1990 to 1994. Rewatching these shows on In Living Color: Season 3 reminded me of just how special a show this was. Filled with such startling comedic insights, I really feel that this show opened up TV to look at race issues in a very refreshing way....

With Ritchson, the new series has a star that is much closer in size and stature to the character. That much, at least, everyone can agree on. The issue that some seem to have is that they feel Ritchson’s acting in the trailer lacks personality....

After eight and a half years, James Corden will leave The Late Late Show in 2023. The British actor took over the role on CBS in 2015, but as reported by Deadline, Corden has now added a final one-year extension to his contract that will see him through to summer 2023, when he will then depart as host. Despite being a surprise choice when he was first handed the role, the Marmite star managed to bring new life to the late-night talk show, introducing new segments such as Carpool Karaoke and Crosswalk Musical, which turned out to be loved and loathed in equal measure....

We will finally see Jason Voorhees make his long-awaited return with the arrival of Crystal Lake, a Friday the 13th prequel series that’s in the works at Peacock. From Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller, the show will serve as the first official installment of the Friday the 13th series since the reboot movie hit theaters in 2009. Needless to say, there are many horror fans excited, and this has resulted in Creepy Duck Design, an artist specializing in movie poster artwork for Hollywood, crafting up a concept poster for Crystal Lake....
