While there have seemingly no talks for a follow-up to what is really a very self-contained story, that hasn’t stopped the film’s stars from expressing their willingness to return for another round of musical fun in the future. On last night’s American Idol results show, host Ryan Seacrest confirmed that the Idol Gives Back fundraising effort has raised almost $70 million to-date for programs to help people in extreme poverty in America and Africa. Seacrest first announced the total on Tuesday’s performance show after acknowledging the musical performers, actors and comedians who donated their time to Idol Gives Back. In addition, President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush appeared in a special video on Tuesday night to commend and thank the celebrity participants, contestants, viewers and corporate sponsors for their respective contributions to the success of Idol Gives Back....

Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions company have acquired the rights to The Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling’s final screenplay entitled The Stops Along The Way, which will be crafted into a TV mini-series. The producer acquired the rights from Rod Serling’s widow, Carol Serling, who had this to say about the acquisition. While no concrete details were given regarding the story, Carol Serling did have this to say about her late husband’s script....

Former child star Jennette McCurdy dives deep into her time spent at Nickelodeon in her new memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, and this includes detailing her relationship with Sam & Cat co-star Ariana Grande. A short-lived series that served as a spinoff to both iCarly and Victorious, Sam & Cat teamed up McCurdy’s Sam Puckett from the former and Grande’s Cat Valentine from the latter. Actress Jolene Blalock, best known for her role as the Vulcan T’Pol in Star Trek: Enterprise has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming second season of the nationally syndicated series Legend of the Seeker, it was announced today. Jordan Peele’s run of success has continued this summer with Nope, with the film having crossed $100 million at the box office. Kevin Bacon makes his MCU debut as Kevin Bacon in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, it looks like when In Treatment comes back on HBO in April the show will be “clustered.” Two shows will come on Sundays while three will air on Mondays. “People like to dig in and watch more than one at a time,” stated HBO entertainment president Sue Naegle HBO is also bringing back The Life and Times of Tim. It also seems that Big Love will be going in a new direction on January 18....
